MONTHLY SURVEILLANCE REPORT

A total of 364 notifiable diseases were monitored by the Sentinel Surveillance Staff from 9 different hospital sentinel sites (Brokenshire Hospital, Davao Doctors Hospital, Davao Medical Center, Davao Oriental Provincial Hospital, Davao Regional Hospital, Davao del Sur Provincial Hospital, Limso Medical Center, Medical Mission Group Hospital and San Pedro Hospital). Three hundred three (83.2%) dengue cases, thirty-seven (10.2%) typhoid fever cases, twelve (3.3%) hepatitis b cases, seven (1.9%) non-neonatal tetanus cases, three (0.8%) leptospirosis cases and two (0.6%) malaria cases. Among the 364 cases monitored, no fatality noted.

Majority of the notifiable diseases monitored were from Davao City (77.7%), followed by Davao del Sur (8%), Davao del Norte (5.8%), Davao Oriental (2.7%), Compostela Valley (3.3%), North Cotabato (1.1%), Agusan del Sur (0.8%), Agusan del Norte (0.3%) and Lanao del Sur (0.3%).

In Davao City, cases were from the following areas: Talomo District (98 cases), Buhangin District (39 cases), Toril District (30 cases), District B (24 cases), Agdao District (21 cases), Bunawan District (16 cases), District A (15 cases), District D (11 cases), District C ( 9 cases), Tugbok District (8 cases), Calinan District (6 cases), Paquibato District (4 cases), Baguio District (1 case) and Marilog District (1 case).

Among the diseases monitored, dengue fever ranks first. 64.6% of the cases were Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever while 35.6% were Dengue Fever cases. One hundred forty-six (146) were males and one hundred fifty-seven (157) were females. Ages of the cases ranged from 4 months to 76 years old with the median age of 12 years. Majority of the cases reported were from Davao City. No fatality noted.
