MONTHLY SURVEILLANCE REPORT A total of 183 notifiable diseases were monitored by the Sentinel Surveillance Staff from 9 different hospital sentinel sites (Brokenshire Hospital, Davao Doctors Hospital, Davao Medical Center, Davao Regional Hospital, Davao del Sur Provincial Hospital, Limso Medical Center, Medical Mission Group Hospital, Montevista District Hospital and San Pedro Hospital). One hundred thirty-four (73.2%) dengue cases, twenty-six (14.2%) typhoid fever cases, eight (4.4%) non-neonatal tetanus cases, five (2.7%) leptospirosis cases, three (1.6%) hepatitis a cases, three (1.6%) hepatitis b cases,two (1.1%) malaria cases and two (1.1%) meningo cases. Among the 183 cases monitored, two fatality noted.
Majority of the notifiable diseases monitored were from Davao City (66.1%), followed by Davao del Norte (10.4%), Compostela Valley (6.6%), Davao del Sur (6%), Agusan del Sur (3.3%), Davao Oriental (2.7%), North Cotabato (2.7%), Sultan Kudarat (1.6%) and Surigao del Sur (0.5%).
In Davao City, cases were from the following areas: Talomo District (39 cases), Buhangin District (23 cases), District A (10 cases), Toril District (9 cases), Tugbok District (9 cases), Bunawan District (7 cases), Agdao District (6 cases), District B (6 cases), District D (5 cases), Calinan District (3 cases), District C (2 cases) and Paquibato District (2 cases).
Among the diseases monitored, dengue fever ranks first. 56% of the cases were Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever while 44% were Dengue Fever cases. Eighty-one (81) were males and fifty-three (53) were females. Ages of the cases ranged from 4 months to 89 years old with the median age of 14 years. Majority of the cases reported were from Davao City. No fatality noted.
