MONTHLY SURVEILLANCE REPORT A total of 223 notifiable diseases were monitored by the Sentinel Surveillance Staff from 9 different hospital sentinel sites (Brokenshire Hospital, Davao Doctors Hospital, Davao Medical Center, Davao Oriental Provincial Hospital, Davao Regional Hospital, Davao del Sur Provincial Hospital, Limso Medical Center, Medical Mission Group Hospital and San Pedro Hospital). One hundred thirty-nine (62.3%) dengue cases, fifty-five (24.7%) typhoid fever cases, eleven (4.9%) hepatitis b cases, six (2.7%) leptospirosis cases, six (2.7%) non-neonatal tetanus cases, four (1.8%) malaria cases, one (0.4%) hepatitis a case and one (0.4%) rabies case. Among the 223 cases monitored, only one fatality noted.
Majority of the notifiable diseases monitored were from Davao City (60.1%), followed by Davao Oriental (10.8%), Davao del Norte (9.4%), Davao del Sur (9%), North Cotabato (4.5%), Compostela Valley (3.1%), Agusan del Sur (0.9%), Southern Leyte (0.9%), Maguindanao (0.4%), Sultan Kudarat (0.4%) and Surigao del Sur (0.4%).
In Davao City, cases were from the following areas: Talomo District (52 cases), Buhangin District (25 cases), Toril District (12 cases), District B (9 cases), Bunawan District (6 cases), District A (6 cases), District C (6 cases), District D (5 cases), Tugbok District (5 cases), Calinan District (4 cases), Agdao District (3 cases) and Paquibato District (1 case).
Among the diseases monitored, dengue fever ranks first. 46% of the cases were Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever while 54% were Dengue Fever cases. Sixty-eight (68) were males and seventy-one (71) were females. Ages of the cases ranged from 5 months to 72 years old with the median age of 11 years. Majority of the cases reported were from Davao City. No fatality noted.
