ANNUAL SURVEILLANCE REPORT

A total of 4,291 notifiable diseases were monitored by the Sentinel Surveillance Staff from 10 different hospital sentinel sites (Brokenshire Hospital, Davao Doctors Hospital, Davao Medical Center, Davao Oriental Provincial Hospital, Davao Regional Hospital, Digos National Hospital, Limso Medical Center, Medical Mission Group Hospital, Montevista District Hospital and San Pedro Hospital). Three thousand six hundred seventy-two (85.6%) dengue cases, three hundred sixty-two (8.4%) typhoid fever cases, one hundred twenty (2.8%) hepatitis b cases, fifty-five (1.3%) non-neonatal tetanus cases, thirty (0.7%) hepatitis a cases, twenty-one (0.5%) malaria cases, seventeen (0.4%) leptospirosis cases, six (0.1%) rabies cases, five (0.1%) cholera cases, two (0.04%) meningo cases and one (0.02%) diphtheria case. Among the 4,291 cases monitored, there were 44 fatalities noted.

Majority of the notifiable diseases monitored were from Davao City (70.8%), followed by Davao del Norte (8.7%), Davao del Sur (7.3%), Davao Oriental (5.2%), Compostela Valley (4.2%), Agusan del Sur (0.7%), Surigao del Sur (0.5%), Maguindanao (0.1%), South Cotabato (0.1%), Sultan Kudarat (0.1%), General Santos City (0%), Saranggani Province (0%) and Bukidnon (0%).

In Davao City, cases were from the following areas: Talomo District (912 cases), Buhangin District (796 cases), Davao Poblacion (562 cases), Bunawan District (224 cases), Agdao District (223 cases), Tugbok District (118 cases), Toril District (111 cases), Calinan District (48 cases), Marilog District (25 cases), Paquibato District (10 cases) and Baguio District (8 cases).

Among the diseases monitored, dengue fever ranks first. 55.3% of the cases were Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever while 44.7% were Dengue Fever cases. One thousand eight hundred seventy (1,870) were males and one thousand eight hundred two (1,802) were females. Ages of the cases ranged from 1 month to 94 years old with the medican age of 11 years. Majority of the cases reported were from Davao city. Twenty-six deaths noted.
