MONTHLY SURVEILLANCE REPORT A total of 918 notifiable diseases were monitored by the Sentinel Surveillance Staff from 10 different hospital sentinel sites (Brokenshire Hospital, Compostela Valley Provincial Hospital, Davao Doctors Hospital, Davao Medical Center, Davao Oriental Provincial Hospital, Davao Regional Hospital, Davao del Sur Provincial Hospital, Ricardo Limso Medical Center, Medical Mission Group Hospital and San Pedro Hospital). Four hundred sixty-eight (51%) dengue cases, three hundred fifty (38%) influenza like illness cases, sixty-five (7%) bacterial meningitis cases, sixteen (2%) typhoid fever cases, eight (0.9%) acute bloody diarrhea cases, four (0.4%) non-neonatal tetanus cases, two (0.2%) hepatitis b cases, two (0.2%) rabies cases, one (0.1%) acute encephalitis syndrome case, one (0.1%) leptospirosis case and one (0.1%) malaria cases. Among the 918 cases monitored, there were ten fatalities noted (Acute Bloody Diarrhea, Bacterial Meningitis, Dengue and Rabies). Majority of the notifiable diseases monitored were from Davao City (73.4%), followed by Davao del Norte (10.4%), Compostela Valley (5%), Davao Oriental (3.7%), Davao del Sur (3.1%), North Cotabato (2%), Surigao del Sur (1%), Agusan del Sur (0.5%), Butuan (0.2%), Iloilo (0.1%), Laguna (0.1%), Maguindanao (0.1%), Misamis Occidental (0.1%), Sarangani (0.1%), Shariff Kabunsuan (0.1) and Sultan Kudarat (0.1%). In Davao City, cases were from the following areas: Talomo District (213 cases), Buhangin District (157 cases), Bunawan District (58 cases), Agdao District (54 cases), District A (33 cases), District C (32 cases), District B (27 cases), Toril District (27 cases), Tugbok District (24 cases), Calinan District (15 cases), District D (15 cases), Paquibato District (10 cases), Baguio District (6 cases) and Marilog District (3 cases). Among the diseases monitored, dengue fever ranks first. 78.4% of the cases were Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever while 21.6% were Dengue Fever cases. Two hundred thrity-nine (239) were males and two hundred twenty-nine (229) were females. Ages of the cases ranged from 3 months to 87 years old with the median age of 11 years.
