MONTHLY SURVEILLANCE REPORT

A total of 788 notifiable diseases were monitored by the Sentinel Surveillance Staff from 8 different hospital sentinel sites (Brokenshire Hospital, Davao Doctors Hospital, Davao Medical Center, Davao Regional Hospital, Davao del Sur Provincial Hospital, Ricardo Limso Medical Center, Medical Mission Group Hospital and San Pedro Hospital). Four hundred eight (51.8%) influenza like illness, three hundred thirty-four (42.4%) dengue cases, thirteen (1.6%) bacterial meningitis cases, thirteen (1.6%) typhoid fever cases, ten (1.3%) acute bloody diarrhea cases, three (0.4%) hepatitis b cases, two (0.3%) leptospirosis cases, two (0.3%) rabies cases, one (0.1%) hepatitis a case, one (0.1%) non-neonatal tetanus and one (0.1%) malaria case. Among the 788 cases monitored, there were four fatalities noted.

Majority of the notifiable diseases monitored were from Davao City (73.2%), followed by Davao del Norte (69%), Compostela Valley (5.1%), Davao Oriental (4.8%), Davao del Sur (3.9%), North Cotabato (1.5%),  Surigao del Sur (0.9%), Agusan del Sur (0.8%), South Cotabato (0.4%), Agusan del Norte (0.3%), Bukidnon (0.1%), Quezon City (0.1%) and Shariff Kabunsuan (0.1%). 

In Davao City, cases were from the following areas: Talomo District (152 cases), Buhangin District (137 cases), Agdao District (49 cases), Bunawan District (40 cases), Toril District (34 cases), District C (33 cases), District A (29 cases), District B (29 cases), Tugbok District (27 cases), District D (17 cases), Calinan District (12 cases), Marilog District (7 cases), Paquibato District (6 cases) and Baguio District (5 cases).

Among the diseases monitored, influenza like illness ranks first. Two hundred eighteen (218) were males and one hundred ninety (190) were females. Ages of the cases ranged from 23 days to 95 years old with the median age of 4 years. Majority of the cases reported were from Davao City. One fatality noted.
