SEMI-ANNUAL SURVEILLANCE REPORT

A total of 1,669 notifiable diseases were monitored by the Sentinel Surveillance Staff from 10 different hospital sentinel sites (Brokenshire Hospital, Davao Doctors Hospital, Davao Medical Center, Davao Oriental Provincial Hospital, Davao Regional Hospital, Davao del Sur Provincial Hospital, Limso Medical Center, Medical Mission Group Hospital, Montevista District Hospital and San Pedro Hospital). One thousand two hundred twenty-four (73.3%) dengue cases, two hundred forty-eight (14.9%) typhoid fever cases, seventy-five (4.5%) hepatitis b cases, forty-six (2.8%) non-neonatal tetanus cases, twenty-six (1.6%) malaria cases, twenty-five (1.5%) leptospirosis cases, thirteen (0.8%) hepatitis a cases, seven (0.4%) rabies cases, three (0.2%) meningo cases, one (0.1%) diphtheria case and one (0.1%) pertussis case. Among the 1,669 cases monitored, there are sixteen fatality noted.

Majority of the notifiable diseases monitored were from Davao City (66.9%), followed by Davao del Norte (9.5%), Davao del Sur (6.9%), Davao Oriental (6.7%), Compostela Valley (5.5%), North Cotabato (2%), Agusan del Sur (1.1%), Surigao del Sur (0.7%), Sultan Kudarat (0.2%), Bukidnon (0.1%), Maguindanao (0.1%), South Cotabato (0.1%), Southern Leyte (0.1%), Sarangani Province (0.1%) and Shariff Kabunsuan (0.1%).

In Davao City, cases were from the following areas: Talomo District (363 cases), Buhangin District (219 cases), Toril District (118 cases), District B (74 cases), Agdao District (62 cases), Bunawan District (61 cases), District A (51 cases), Tugbok District (43 cases), District D (40 cases), District C (37 cases), Calinan District (27 cases), Marilog District (11 cases), Paquibato District (9 cases) and Baguio District (2 cases).

Among the diseases monitored, dengue fever ranks first. 53.8% of the cases were Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever while 46.2% were Dengue Fever cases. Six hundred thirty (630) were males and five hundred ninety-four (594) were females. Ages of the cases ranged from 0 day to 89 years old with the median age of 11 years. Majority of the cases reported were from Davao City. Six fatalities noted.
