MONTHLY SURVEILLANCE REPORT

A total of 313 notifiable diseases were monitored by the Sentinel Surveillance Staff from 9 different hospital sentinel sites (Brokenshire Hospital, Davao Doctors Hospital, Davao Medical Center, Davao Oriental Provincial Hospital, Davao Regional Hospital, Davao del Sur Provincial Hospital, Limso Medical Center, Medical Mission Group Hospital and San Pedro Hospital). Two hundred fity-four (81.2%) dengue cases, thirty-two (10.2%) typhoid fever cases, fifteen (4.8%) hepatitis b cases, five (1.6%) leptospirosis cases, four (1.3%) non-neonatal tetanus cases, two (0.6%) hepatitis a cases and one (0.3%) malaria case. Among the 313 cases monitored, only one fatality noted.

Majority of the notifiable diseases monitored were from Davao City (81.2%), followed by Davao del Sur (5.4%), Davao del Norte (5.1%), Davao Oriental (4.5%), North Cotabato (1.9%), Surigao del Sur (1%), Agusan del Sur (0.3%), Compostela Valley (1%) and Maguindanao (0.3%).

In Davao City, cases were from the following areas: Talomo District (63 cases), Buhangin District (60 cases), Agdao District (31 cases), Toril District (20 cases), Bunawan District (19 cases), District B (18 cases), District A (14 cases), District D ( 9 cases), District C (8 cases), Calinan District (5 cases), Tugbok District (3 cases), Marilog District (2 cases), Baguio District (1 case) and Paquibato District (1 case).

Among the diseases monitored, dengue fever ranks first. 51.2% of the cases were Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever while 48.8% were Dengue Fever cases. One hundred thirty (130) were males and one hundred twenty-four (124) were females. Ages of the cases ranged from 3 months to 65 years old with the median age of 1 years. Majority of the cases reported were from Davao City. No fatality noted.
